The Venture Bros. is a comedy series created by Jackson Publick (Christopher McColluch).
The series is produced by Astro Base Go and World Leaders Entertainment. It premiered on [adult swim] in August 2004.

Plot
The series pays homage to classic 1960s Hanna-Barbera action cartoons, most notably Jonny Quest. Hank and Dean Venture are two boys who walk, talk and act like they are trapped in the sixties, much to the chagrin of their father, Dr. Thaddeus Venture, washed-up superscientist perpetually living in his famous father Jonas' shadow. Along for the ride is the Ventures' gung-ho secret agent bodyguard Brock Samson and H.E.L.P.eR., their not-very-helpful robot. Each episode has the Venture family traveling the world or showcasing Dr. Venture's newest failed invention, all the while facing dastardly threats from one of a number of villains, most likely the Monarch and his cannon-fodder henchmen.
History
McCulloch created the series sometime prior to 2000. After working on Sheep in the Big City and the live-action The Tick, he pitched the series to Comedy Central, who rejected it. The premise was eventually greenlit by [adult swim] in 2002, and the pilot episode "The Terrible Secret of Turtle Bay" premiered on February 16, 2003. The show premiered as a series in August 2004 and has since grown a steady fan base.

Ben Edlund, creator of The Tick, has a story credit for the season one episode "Careers in Science" and a writer credit for the season two episode "¡Viva Los Muertos!".
