Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is a live-action medical drama/horror spoof based on characters created by British comedian Matthew Holness.

Plot

Holness plays B-rated horror writer Garth Marenghi, who introduces each episode of Darkplace, a newly resurfaced low-budget TV series from the 1980s which he created, wrote, produced and directed. Set in the mysterious Darkplace Hospital in Romford, East London, the show stars Marenghi as Dr. Rick Dagless, MD, a man who wages constant battles with dark forces while trying to keep a hospital running. Interviews with Marenghi and his cast mates, which include his publicist Dean Learner, claim that Darkplace was a show that explored the darkest depths of the writer's imagination, when in fact it suffered from low production costs, gaping plot holes, bad acting, and sloppy editing.

In 2001 Holness won a Perrier award for his Garth Marenghi character at the Edinburgh International Festival.

1	Once Upon a Beginning (11/9/2007) Liz Asher, the new nurse at Darkplace Hospital, keeps having psychical visions which for Dagless brings back memories of how he and an old friend dabbled in the occult and opened a gateway to Hell. When the gateway reopens, Dagless must close it again before more unspeakably evil things happen.
2	Hell Hath Fury (11/16/2001) Frustration over a delay with lunch sparks a string of telekinetic attacks all over the hospital. Dagless and the staff must figure out what the cause is while dodging flying staplers, floating irons and other strangely moving objects.
3	Skipper the Eyechild (11/23/2007) Dagless witnesses a patient in the wards giving birth to a mutant eyeball creature. Memories of his dead half-grasshopper son stir him to protect the child as Reed and the rest of the staff hunt it down, believing it to be a potential killer.
4	The Apes of Wrath (11/30/2007) A strange illness spreads throughout the hospital, reverting anyone who contracts it to a primal state. Can Dagless find the cause and stop it before the hospital is overrun by monkeys?
5	Scotch Mist (12/7/2007) An eerie mist forms around the hospital carrying the spirits of dead Scottish highlanders. Only Dagless can stop it when its recent slew of victims digs up something from his past.
6	The Creeping Moss from the Shores of Shuggoth (12/14/2007) When Sanchez falls in love with a patient infected by alien broccoli spores, it's up to Dagless to save his friend and the world, even if it means boiling the only woman he's ever loved.
