Story

From [adult swim]'s FLCL showpage: This gorgeous animation from Japan features alien rock stars, zippy motor scooters and robots that burst from the main character's skull. We may not understand it, but we sure do like it.

Naota Nandaba is an eight-year-old kid living in the small town of Mabase who acts quite mature for his age. His eccentric father writes an underground tabloid magazine, and his grandfather runs the bakery where they all live at. Ever since his older brother left home to play baseball in America, his old girlfriend Mamimi Samejima has been hanging around him every day. And if that wasn't enough to handle, ever since a maniacal young girl ran him down on her Vespa and then beaned him in the head with an electric guitar, some strange things have been coming out of his head.

FLCL is set apart from more contemporary anime titles for its unique and constantly changing animation styles, as well as a hard-pumping soundtrack from J-rock group The Pillows.

History

The series premiered on [adult swim] in August 2003 and has been hailed by viewers and Williams Street employees alike. 6 FLCLimax (8/13/2003)
