Story

Light Yagami is a disenfranchised high school genius who is disgusted by the rampant crime and corruption in the world today. One day he finds a seemingly uninteresting notebook lying on the ground, which turns out to be the "Death Note", a powerful book from the Spirit Realm that will almost instantly kill anyone whose name is written down inside. Now granted with the powers of life and death, and after meeting the book's owner, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light decides to use the Death Note to pass judgment on criminals and rid the world of all evil, while the seemingly mysterious string of deaths attracts a world-famous eccentric detective known as "L", who is in search of the killer.
