Story
In an alternate timeline, the Holy Empire of Britannia is now an international superpower which covers one-third of the globe. In the year 2010, the Empire has conquered Japan through the use of mechanical weapons known as Knightmare Frames, and the country's people have lost their rights and freedoms as citizens of the newly renamed "Area 11". While the presiding Britannians have established first-class settlements for themselves, the native citizens, now known as "Elevens", are forced to live in the ghettos, where many revolutionary factions have emerged.
When a Britannian noble named Lelouch Lamperouge was ten years old, he swore that one day he would bring down the Empire after his mother is killed in the violence and destruction that surrounded him. Seven years later, now living in Area 11 with his sister, he finds a strange young girl in the middle of anti-Britannian conflict who gives him the mythical power of Geass which allows the user to manipulate others into following his will. Lelouch decides to use this new power to avenge his mother's death and destroy the Empire once and for all.
Code Geass features character designs by the notable female manga artist team CLAMP (Chobits, xxxHOLiC).
